Chalmers University of Technology visits ACEIoT to strengthen partnerships and explore new collaboration opportunities
On 14 November 2025, the African Centre of Excellence in Internet of Things (ACEIoT) welcomed a high-level delegation from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, for a strategic visit aimed at deepening the existing partnership and identifying new avenues for collaboration. The delegation was led by the current Vice President of Utilization, Innovation, and Lifelong Learning, Professor Mats Lundqvist, accompanied by a team of experts in innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship.
The visit provided a platform for both institutions to reflect on ongoing collaborations, share insights on current initiatives, and explore new opportunities to enhance joint research, innovation, and capacity-building efforts. Discussions focused on strengthening the bridge between academia and industry, fostering innovation ecosystems, and supporting the commercialization of research outputs.
During the meeting, Prof. Damien Hanyurwimfura, Director of ACEIoT, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the center’s progress and impact. He highlighted ACEIoT’s achievements in advanced research, student training, and prototype development, as well as several upcoming projects related to innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology deployment. He emphasized the Centre’s commitment to nurturing solutions that address real-world challenges across Africa.
In his remarks, Vice President Mats Lundqvist commended ACEIoT’s remarkable progress and reaffirmed Chalmers University’s readiness to expand its support. He outlined a range of innovation-focused projects that Chalmers is eager to collaborate on—particularly those aimed at helping students and researchers scale their innovations, strengthen entrepreneurial skills, and translate prototypes into market-ready products.
Both institutions expressed strong interest in establishing new joint programs, including innovation mentorship, mobility opportunities, joint research projects, and expanded industry partnerships. The visit concluded with a shared commitment to accelerate impactful innovation and strengthen the ACEIoT–Chalmers collaboration for the benefit of students, researchers, and the broader technological ecosystem.
