On 16th-17th June 2026, the REMARKABLE Project (Rural Environmental Monitoring via ultra-wide-ARea networKs And distriButed federated Learning) held a workshop aimed at exploring opportunities for research collaboration, knowledge exchange, and strengthening partnerships among participating institutions.

The workshop brought together researchers and stakeholders to share ideas, discuss emerging research areas, and identify potential areas for collaboration. Over the two days, it provided an important platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and fostering stronger international research partnerships between African and European universities.

The workshop welcomed representatives from PDM, BV, UPV and UR, including professors, PhD candidates and undergraduate students.

The workshop was attended by the Principal of the College of Science and Technology (CST), Prof. Ignace Gatare, and the Project Manager, Dr. Paolo Calciati, among other participants involved in the project.

Principal Prof. Ignace Gatare commended the collaboration, noting that it provides an opportunity for both African and European universities to learn from each other as they share a common vision of advancing innovation and contributing to a brighter future.

Funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe Marie Sk?odowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Staff Exchange Programme, the REMARKABLE Project promotes researcher mobility and collaboration between African and European institutions. The project brings together 16 universities across Africa and Europe to advance research and innovation through joint activities and knowledge exchange.

The MSCA Staff Exchange Programme supports short-term exchanges of research and innovation staff across countries and sectors, with the goal of strengthening global scientific cooperation. Through these exchanges, researchers gain opportunities to share expertise, develop new skills, and collaborate on innovative, interdisciplinary, and inter-sectoral research initiatives.

Through the REMARKABLE Project, participating institutions continue to strengthen international partnerships and contribute to the development of innovative solutions addressing real-world challenges, particularly in environmental monitoring and technology-driven research.
