ACEIoT Conduct 5day drones workshop

The African Center of Excellence in Internet of Things (ACEIoT) in collaboration with State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) is conducting a five- day short course in Drones and data analysis. The course started on 9th to end on14 March 2019.

The short course is attended by 25 professionals with background in IoT related disciplines from Rwanda, Zanzibar and Tanzania. Participants are from institutions which work on Geospatial related issues from Rwanda and Tanzania.

“This training will be professional, hands-on course on how to operate multirotor drones safely and effectively for the purpose of Data collection and analysis”, said Dr. Damien Hanyurwimfura, the Acting Director of ACEIoT.

The course will also include training on flight planning and autonomous flight missions, data analysis and publication, the way to produce a range of information products derived from aerial data: geo-referenced maps, 3D models and aerial videos as well as how to use such generated information in research purpose.
It will also be an opportunity to run drone projects in socially-sensitive contexts, particularly those related to humanitarian or disaster response.

This five - day training will open more doors for more collaboration not only to the State University of Zanzibar and ACEIoT but its partners related to drone activities to continue being a hub of the support for drone operation in Africa.
