ACEIoT was established to address the critical gap in high-level ICT skills and research in the region.
Origins and Vision
The African Centre of Excellence in Internet of Things (ACEIoT) is one of 24 centres of excellence funded by the World Bank under the Eastern and Southern Africa Higher Education Centres of Excellence (ACE II) project. Established at the University of Rwanda, the centre focuses on accelerating the training of a critical mass of African scientists and engineers in the field of Internet of Things.
Our vision is to become a leading regional hub for high-quality postgraduate education and research in IoT and related fields, delivering sustainable solutions for socio-economic development across the continent.
Mission
Our mission is to provide an interdisciplinary research environment that combines academic excellence with practical application. We aim to:
- Deliver high-quality MSc and PhD programs in Internet of Things.
- Conduct applied research that addresses regional challenges in health, agriculture, and energy.
- Foster partnerships with industry and government to accelerate technology adoption.
- Build a sustainable ecosystem for digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
