Five PhD students successfully defend their research theses

Five PhD students (4women and 1man) have, on 18th December 2023, successfully defended their PhD research theses making a round of students to graduate in 2024.

These students are Mr. Elias Ntawuzumunsi whose research thesis focused on ‘IoT powered smart beekeeping realization of an intelligent & energy efficient remote bee monitoring system for increased honey production’; Ms. Claudia Abineza focused on ‘Design of Prediction Model and Decision Support System for COPD Patients Management Based on a Pulse Oximetry Protocol’; Ms. Florence Mukamanzi focused on ‘IoT Based Source Location Privacy Preservation: The Case of Habitat Monitoring’.

Ms. Calorine Katushabe took interest on ‘Real Time Air Quality Monitoring and Development of an Open Platform and 3D Lung Display to Create Awareness on its Health Impact’ while Ms. Christine Musanase discussed the ‘Remote Smart Soil Analyzer and Crop Prediction using Machine Learning Approach in Rwanda’.

The successful presentation of their PhD theses is mainly due to the uncountable support they have received from their supervisory team during their PhD journey, constructive comments and inputs they have received from Doctoral Committees and rigorous assessment received from their External examiners and the center administration that facilitated the whole process.

From its establishment, the African Centre of Excellence in Internet of Things (ACEIoT) has so far graduated 13 PhD students. The number of graduant will increase by 2024 when those 5 students and more students will graduate.
